District Manager Accountabilities

Ø      Communicates and ensures compliance with the Zero Tolerance Policy concerning Harassment, Prohibited Drugs, and Alcohol.

Ø      Work with Senior District Manager, other District Managers, and other member of the office and upper management in a cooperative, courteous, and professional manner.

Ø      Has read and understands the Armstrong Subway, Inc. Policy Manual and the red Subway Operations Manual.

Ø      To oversee the Store Managers and staff to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed as per the red Subway Operations Manual and the Armstrong Subway, Inc. Policy Manual.

Ø      Number one focus in the store is the customer. Works with the Senior District Manager on productivity goals.

Ø      Approves all schedules before they are posted in the stores.

Ø      Supports the store managers in answering any questions or advising them on how to handle difficult situations or problems.

Ø      Reports directly to the Senior District Manager, or if not available, the Director of Operations, on serious or complimentary aspects of day-to-day operations at each store location.

Ø      Has a focus on assistant manager training and follow up.

Ø      Accountable to the Director of Operations for their work schedule in advance.

Ø      Has a weekly minimum commitment of forty-seven hours per week unless approved by the Director of Operations.

Ø      Will have a pager and be on the Security Link call for each store.

Ø      Must be available to work days, nights, and weekends.

Ø      To point out needs for improvement to the Store Manager in the following areas:

1.      Personnel

2.      Store cleanliness – Section 10.29

3.      Food cost – Section 8.34

4.      Productivity and labor control – Section 8.36 & 8.37

5.      Paperwork – Mgr Daily Packets (Section 8.13)

-  Weekly Paperwork (Section 8.55)

-  New Hire Paperwork (Section 11)

-  All other paperwork requirements as stated in the Armstrong Subway, Inc. Policy Manual

6.      Cash Handling / Controls – Section 6

7.      Attitude – Section 10.27

8.      Discipline – Section 10.28

Ø      A full written inspection, including audit of cash and paperwork at each store, once a month. Fill out a District Manager Inspection Report (Section 15.50) completely with written specific notes on areas of correction, signed, and dated by both the Store Manager and District Manager.

Ø      To visit each store a minimum of once every week with a minimum of one-hour direct time spent with the store manager on personal development and operations. Write up an action and development plan and submit Director of Operations on a weekly basis through the District Manager Communication Log. The goal of their development should be focused on empowering the managers to become more self-reliant.

Ø      To ensure that all pertinent information and paperwork from each store is obtained, completed, and forwarded to the appropriate locations/personnel on a daily and weekly basis as required.

Ø      Interview and hire new management candidates and coordinate their development with the store manager to ensure thorough training.

Ø      To know and understand the job descriptions of store managers, assistant managers, and shift leaders.

Ø      To be able to perform all duties and functions of store managers.

Ø      District Managers Communication Log completed daily and faxed to the Director of Operations at the office.  A recap of all expectations, corrections, and communication with each Store Manager.  Visit needs to be detailed and signed by both the District Manager and Store Manager. 

Ø      Oversee documentation of employee suspensions and terminations with store managers and submit to the Director of Operations for approval to take the appropriate action. Do termination of employees as deemed necessary by the Director of Operations.

Ø      Maintaining a minimum of two quality assistant managers within the company that have the ability to become store managers at any given time. The candidates must meet the approval of both the Senior District Manager and Director of Operations.

Ø      Project daily sales, sandwiches units, total hours scheduled, and productivity expectations for each store.

Ø      Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by the Senior District Manager, Director of Operations, or the President / C.E.O.
